What is galvanizing?

Galvanizing is a protective process by which a material is protected from external influences. It is a long-term effective and environmentally friendly protection of metal against oxidation, which causes rust or corrosion.

Oxides, sulfides, and similar compounds are more stable forms toward which metals naturally tend. The result of this is corrosion, since the metal dissolves or corrodes as it changes into a more stable form. Corrosion of iron is called rust.

Galvanizing steel is a chemical reaction in which zinc metallurgically bonds to steel in a hot melt, thus creating a protective oxide layer.

Galvanizing as anti-corrosion protection (cold galvanizing process)

Cold galvanizing by applying zinc coatings is intended to protect metals from weather influences and corrosion. It is intended for elements that are assembled. In combination with additional protection (e.g. powder coating), long-lasting protection against rusting and corrosion is achieved.
