With the exception of a couple of days, this winter has been one of the milder ones. Of course, everything can change quickly, but on warm days, our thoughts already drift to the garden and to the projects we want to carry out this year. In addition to larger garden structures, such as wooden sheds, pergolas and canopies, the part of the garden where our vegetables and flowers are planted holds a special place in our hearts. We devote the most attention to them throughout the year, and at the end of the year we are most proud of them when they develop into a beautiful flower or when we prepare a healthy meal from them. Today we will devote the most attention to this area, namely why it makes sense to use raised beds there.

Aesthetic advantages

We know all types of raised beds. From very tall ones to smaller and round ones. In practice, they can be adapted completely to your wishes and needs. This is a great advantage, as they can be adapted to the appearance of the garden and thus ensure that they complement and round it off into a whole. In addition, wood is always welcome in the garden. Especially if you have a smaller garden where you cannot set up a garden shed or a larger pergola, raised beds will bring warmth and variety.

Practical advantages

In addition to their aesthetic advantages, raised beds are also extremely practical. As we have already mentioned, they fit perfectly into smaller gardens where space is limited. They can also be used on balconies (just make sure to check the balcony’s load-bearing capacity beforehand) or even on asphalt, provided they have a bottom. The greatest advantage, however, is a bed with an automated irrigation system, which ensures that the vegetables remain watered even when we are not at home.

Health benefits

In addition to their practical and aesthetic advantages, raised beds have another benefit. They are beneficial for your health. Not only in the sense that gardening is relaxing, but especially for your spine. Namely, prolonged bending over, which accompanies growing home vegetables, leaves consequences. We experience back pain and in extreme cases we even have to give up gardening, as we simply can no longer bend over. Raised beds solve this. We do not need to bend over and strain our backs to grow vegetables, but simply enjoy this relaxing hobby.

We hope that with this article we have presented raised beds in a new light and given some of you new ideas for arranging your spring garden. If you have any questions, please contact us HERE and we will be happy to help you.
